When Good Men Do Nothing

by Patricia Fitzpatrick

28 January 2012 ~ I was going to title this piece "BREAD AND CIRCUSES" because the sources that most of us have trusted for news are feeding us pap instead of meat. They think that we can be distracted with fluff while our Constitution is being eroded by corrupt individuals on both sides of the aisle. But then I decided that Edmund Burke's old quote "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing" fits better here. When the American people report the REAL news, the IMPORTANT news on their blogs and social networking sites we are all strengthened in that fight against corruption and evil. We have the ability to see the truth and make our own decisions about how we feel about these things that people think they are doing in secret. Hundreds of thousands of Americans were talking about this yesterday, now let's see how long it takes the network news to shine some light on this dirty little secret they have been trying to keep.

27 January 2011

Yesterday morning I watched streaming video from a courthouse in Georgia. Today I scoured the three major television network websites to see what they had to say about that hearing. I saw video clips of the breaking news that Demi Moore has been hospitalized. I saw explicitly detailed negative information about each of the Republican candidates. I even had the chance to vote on a favorite monster from one of their hit shows. I ran a search on each website with the keywords “eligibility hearing in Georgia”. Nothing, Nada, Zip, Zilch! No matches, NOT A SINGLE MATCH! ABC offered me the opportunity to use the same search terms on the internet. I clicked and that search offered me 119,000 matches and from the looks of the first few pages these were legitimate matches to my search keywords.

Okay, so I don’t know. Maybe some hospitalized actress is on the top of your Need to Know List. But I feel there is something terribly wrong when major network news can just completely ignore the fact that the President of the United States was subpoenaed and failed to appear at this hearing. He didn’t even bother to send his attorney with the requested documents to enter into the record. The judge will take the Plaintiff’s compelling evidence and compare it to the no show, no evidence of the Defendant and will determine whether Barack Obama’s name can appear on the ballot in Georgia in the upcoming election. I dunno, seems like big news to me but obviously the main stream media Powers That Be consider this Constitutional challenge something that the average American doesn’t want to hear. Obviously the average American who uses the internet believes differently.

I find this whole thing spellbinding, absolutely and completely the most fascinating information I have heard in years. Not only does it point up how far we have come from the original checks and balances written into the Constitution, but gosh darn, those of us who have lost faith in mass media are seeing absolute proof of the truth in our concerns. They will dig up every minute detail of an opposing candidate’s lifetime and we hear it and read it over and over again. But they fail to mention anything that might cast any light on their own favorites. What happened to just reporting the facts and letting us make up our own minds?

I heard about the Georgia hearing on talk radio just minutes before the hearing began. KHOW in Denver and more specifically, Peter Boyles posted the streaming video on his website and I watched the hearing as it took place. Since you won’t be hearing much (if anything at all) about this on your local or national newscasts or reading it in your newspaper you might want to just see it and judge for yourself. You could also Google it or just skip past ABC’s “no matches found” page and take them up on their offer to search on the internet. I’m guessing there might be more than 119,000 matches by now. YouTube posted the hearing in six parts and you can also find it below. I would suggest a pair of headphones because the sound quality wasn’t good but you can make out most of the multiple attorneys’ questions and the microphone in the witness stand is excellent. In all my reading today I never got around to finding out how Demi is doing but I’m sure you’ll hear all about it soon. In the meantime, you might just find these links interesting.
